Plaça Catalunya

Practically everybody that has been in Barcelona has been in Plaça Catalunya as it is the hub for Barcelona's public transportation (metro, train from/to the airport, bus from/to the airport). It is a beautiful square surrounded by stunning buildings such us the Banco de España (see picture) and the famous mega department store 'El Corte Inglés'. It is also where the La Rambla begins.

Castellers

Castellers are one of the greatest and most impressive Catalan traditions. A Castell (castle) consists of a human tower which can have up to ten levels high.

Castells are built during local festivals where competitions between groups (colles) take place in order to build the most impressive castell. In order to be successful they have to be assembled and dismantled.

Ronaldinho in Barcelona

Although it is very unlikely that Ronaldinho will stay at the Camp Nou next season, it is still possible to see him, or should I say his impersonator, around Las Ramblas.

Fleca

Fleca is the catalan word for bakery, where you can buy not only bread, which by the way is delicious, but also all kind of cakes and pastries.

Tapas at the Mercat Boqueria

Apart from being a food market where you can have almost all kinds of food, the Mercat de la Boqueria is also a cool place to go for some tapas.
